How MORE OpenChoice Works

Authors opting for MORE OpenChoice publication will use the submission procedure outlined in each journal’s 'Instructions for Authors' which may be found by following the link in the right-hand menu on the journal's webpage. A paper will be peer-reviewed without prior knowledge of how it is to be disseminated. Once a paper is accepted, authors are notified and offered MORE OpenChoice as a route to publication. Authors will be asked to provide details of any deposit obligations required (e.g. by their funding agencies) to ensure we comply with any technical requirements.

MORE OpenChoice publication will only proceed after acceptance and payment will not be processed prior to formal acceptance. Authors opting for their article to be made open access are required to make payment via ManeyTrack, Maney Publishing's web-based production tracking sytem. Log-in details for ManeyTrack are supplied via email to corresponding author once his/her paper has entered production.

A signed Assignment of Copyright Form is also required and will be supplied to the corresponding author either at submission or with first proofs, depending on each journal's production route.

If a journal offers MORE OpenChoice this is indicated on the journal's homepage. If it is NOT a MORE OpenChoice participating journal, you should discuss your requirements with the managing editor of the journal or contact moreopenchoice@maneypublishing.com.

Article Charges

In order to place papers in the public domain via subject or institutional repositories, MORE OpenChoice charges at two standard rates.

Science, Technical & Medical journals -  US$2,000 / £1,250

Humanities & Social Science journals -  US$800 / £500

Authors may pay the article charge themselves or generate an invoice via ManeyTrack to supply to funders who have agreed to pay publication fees. This article charge covers the expense of producing papers in a format suitable to fulfill deposit obligations (e.g. on PMC) foregoing any embargo that would normally be expected. It excludes standard article charges (colour printing, extra page charges, offprints, etc) that may apply.

Payment

Authors opting for their article to be made open access are required to make payment via ManeyTrack, Maney Publishing's web-based production tracking system. Log-in details for ManeyTrack are supplied via email to the corresponding author once his/her paper has entered production.

Via ManeyTrack , credit/debit card, cheque payment or bank transfer options may be selected, or an invoice generated. Payment will be accepted in GBP£ or US$ only. Bank charges will be paid by the remitter. Authors resident in any of the countries of the European Union have to add Value-Added Tax (VAT). Institutions paying the fee on behalf of the author can in most cases have the VAT refunded, or by following instructions within ManeyTrack enter their VAT registration number, and avoid paying VAT altogether.
