This book is a record of the conference held at Imperial College on 14 and 15 May 2001 as one of the events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Royal School of Mines. Papers from a number of distingished international contributors cover a range of subjects from materials modelling through materials processing to the use of advanced materials in biomedical, aerospace and automotive applications.
