Annual Film Issue

EDITOR
Alan O’Leary
 (Leeds) a.oleary@leeds.ac.uk

This issue provides an outlet for publications (in English and Italian) linked to an aspect of Italian studies that has increasingly occupied scholars in recent years, but which has until now been without a dedicated forum.

Just as the journal has always primarily embraced original research, the Film Issue devotes most of its space to scholarly articles on all aspects of Italian film, television, and screen studies. However, it also accommodates other kinds of publication: the ‘Editing Suite’ section is devoted to interviews with filmmakers, scriptwriters, and other figures associated with the industry, as well as surveys of recent filmmaking and production; ‘Cinegiornale’ is dedicated to short notes, review articles and assessments of recent noteworthy events; ‘Mise-en-scène’ features critical surveys of important scholarly and methodological questions.

Editor Alan O'Leary talks to us about The Italianist Film Issue

The Italianist Film Issue represents the richness of Italian film history and promotes productive and innovative ways of studying this history. It offers scholars from different disciplines an arena in which to gather in order to celebrate and interrogate a common fascination with one of the great traditions of audio-visual narrative.
