SPECIAL ISSUE for 2013: the forthcoming special issue of The London Journal marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Metropolitan Railway within the wider metropolitan context of the London Underground network as a whole, whilst fostering perspectives that emphasise the present and future of the network as much as its past. In focusing on the notions of change encompassed in processes of development, growth, spread, and diffusion, the issue attends to the dynamism of the network and treats the opening of the Metropolitan Railway as the departure point of a journey whose final destination lies in the future. More information to come soon!
